US Electric 2cv GREEN GRASS 2 re-found in Wyoming.
Report from Nick Thompson 22.7.2009
Electric 2cv GREEN GRASS 2 re-found after ten years in Wyoming.
Just like all great Citroen prototypes the best are left a few years to reach full maturity and appreciation.
In the early 1990's Nick Thompson of Sussex 2cv, Viaduct Works Beaconsfield Road, Brighton produced some very surprising and classic 2cv shows incorporating the World’s rarest and earliest Citroen 2cv's, notably Type A 375cc 537 BV 43 (now in Science Museum London) and TOK 917 type SAZ 425cc Slough model featuring in 2cv The Family album and 2cv by David Sparrow.
The Tout Petit Musée (TPM) of Nick Thompson chose to devote one third of it's mid-nineties exhibitions to the future of transportation, always ahead of time "probably the best car in the world" soon had its electric version.
Green Grass 2 the second 2EV built by Shoji Yokouchi, Takahumi Suzuki and Tadanobu Okabe, all from Matsumoto City in Japan. All came to the UK to stop at Nick's farmhouse where room permitted and produced a stunning 2cv which featured on the front page of Brighton's Evening Argus.
The slogan produced by Natasha (Nick's daughter then aged 8) was to be used at the Champs Elysée Paris demonstration. "We will be making history; Britain puts "Tea" in the middle of Champs Elysée".
History was certainly made at the 1998 50th anniversary party St Quentin en Yvelines, the Green Grass 2 Citroen 2EV made by Shoji, Mr Suzuki, Tadanobu and Nick drove under it's own electric power down the famous Parisian boulevard le Camps Elysée.
Britain put it's own T, Tea making ceremony, noted by all the world’s 2cv afficianados in the centre of the French capital.
More to follow concerning the anglo Japanese prototype 2EV . Green Grass 2.
